Compassion Fatigue is also known as secondary traumatic stress disorder, vicarious traumatization, empathic strain and secondary trauma. It's what often happens when someone is consistently exposed to the suffering of others. In Lauren's workshops, she frames the conversation of compassion fatigue as a consideration of the following: what brings us to the helping fields, how the work we do transforms us, how we understand that change and then lastly what we choose to do with that understanding in service of our own resiliency.

COPS is a volunteer organization founded in 1973 by a group of hospital-based professionals. COPS is now attended by many diverse disciplines from vendors, case managers, agencies, care providers and houseing companies. Our purpose for meeting is to build relationships, share knowledge of our services and to facilitate patient advocacy, support and communication.

COPS meet every other month on the 3rd Wednesday. Guest speakers are provided for professional development. Anyone is welcomes to attend so feel free to share this inivtation with others. We also welcome your suggestions for future guest speakers and any additions to the mailing list.
